About

Tomohiro
Jazz Pianist
  • I was born on February 17th, in Nagoya City, Japan.
I had no interest in music throughout my childhood but that changed when I was 20 years old.
Hearing “Waltz for Debby” by Bill Evans, for the first time, I was incredibly moved and decided to start
    practicing the piano by myself.
  • At 21 I started juggling Jazz piano lessons with my office job, but my passion towards Jazz kept growing and growing.
At 28 I finally decided to go study abroad in America.
  • Johnson state college, Vermont – enrolled in 2012 and graduated in 2014 (B.A. in Jazz)
California state university, East bay – enrolled in 2015. (M.A. in Jazz)
  • I’m currently studying Jazz and music while also performing and providing musical services.

“I started playing the piano at 20 years old”

That’s incredibly late in the piano/jazz piano world.
Pianists, like sports athletes, usually start practicing early in their childhood.
However, I want to prove that it’s never too late to start.
All you need is effort and you can make your dream come true!

When I was an office worker people used to laugh at my dream and tell me ” That’s obviously impossible”.
I know that there are more people, all around the world, thinking “I’m an adult but I want to study music…”,
” I’ve always wanted to play the piano…”, “I want to play Jazz…”.
I know that feeling more than anyone else.

That’s why I want to help those people by sharing my experiences and what I’ve learned along the way.
I want to become the “starting point” for those people.

I’m currently studying music, here in the U.S, gaining experience,
meeting people and making my own way to become a professional Jazz pianist.
Many people have supported me to come this far.
My heart if full of gratitude and of passion for Jazz!

While on my way to becoming a professional Jazz pianist, I want to support other people on their way to their dream.
With my music, I want to connect people from all over the world.
I want to become a Pianist who can heal and motivate people.

My soul was saved by music. Now It’s my turn to create music which can save someone’s soul.
